Ingredients

- Flour — to buy450 g
- Baking powder — to buy3 tsp
- Salt — to buy1 tsp
- Butter — to buy50 g
- Milk — to buy300 ml
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 220°C and lightly flour a baking tray.
In a large bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder and salt.
Rub the cold diced butter into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture looks sandy.
Make a well in the centre and pour in the milk gradually, mixing with a fork until a soft dough forms.
Knead briefly on a floured surface (no more than a minute, or the bread will turn tough), then shape into a ball.
Place the ball on the tray, flatten it slightly and cut a deep cross on top with a knife.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped underneath, then let cool slightly before slicing.
