- Braising beef — to buy500 g
- Onion — to buy1
- Garlic — to buy3 cloves
- Ginger — to buy1 small piece
- Cumin — to buy1 tsp
- Cardamom — to buy3 pods
- Potato — to buy2
- Carrot — to buy2
- Chili pepper — to buy1
- Lemon — to buy1
- Neutral oil — to buy2 tbsp
- Water — to buy1.2 L
- Salt — to buy1 tsp
Preparation
Cut the beef into 3 cm cubes.
Heat the oil in a pot and brown the beef cubes on all sides for 5-6 minutes.
Add the sliced onion and cook for 4 minutes, then add the garlic, ginger, cumin and lightly crushed cardamom, and stir for 1 minute.
Pour in the water, bring to a boil, skim if needed, cover and simmer for 50 minutes over low heat until the meat starts to turn tender.
Add the potatoes and carrots cut into large chunks along with the split chilli, and continue cooking for 20 minutes until the vegetables and meat are tender.
Adjust the salt, remove the chilli.
Squeeze in the lemon juice just before serving, piping hot, with lahoh bread for dipping.
