- Chicken — to buy1 kg (morceaux)
- Onion — to buy2
- Garlic — to buy3 gousses
- Ginger — to buy1 petit morceau
- Curry powder — to buy2 c. à s.
- Turmeric — to buy1/2 c. à c.
- Tomato — to buy2
- Curry leaf — to buy10 feuilles
- Potato — to buy2
- Neutral oil — to buy3 c. à s.
- Chili pepper — to buy1
- Salt — to buy1 c. à c.
Preparation
Heat the oil in a pot and brown the chicken pieces on all sides for 6-7 minutes, then set aside.
In the same pot, sauté the sliced onion for 4 minutes, add the grated garlic and ginger and the curry leaves, and cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
Sprinkle with curry powder and turmeric, and stir for 30 seconds over low heat to toast the spices.
Add the diced tomatoes, crush and let stew for 5 minutes.
Return the chicken to the pot with the potatoes cut into chunks and the split chilli, and pour in a glass of water.
Cover and simmer for 30 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the chicken and potatoes are tender and the sauce has thickened.
Adjust the salt, remove the chilli, and serve with rice or rotis.
